CBB: Frankie Cocozza to use reversed reputation to attempt music career

Frankie Cocozza emerged as the unlikely hero of Celebrity Big Brother, proving that just because he’s a lairy lad with sex constantly on the brain, he’s not necessarily a raging dickhead.

His defence of Denise Welch in the face of the vile Playboy twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon cemented his status as a frontrunner to win, and last night he polled second place behind a victorious Welch.

Speaking at a press conference after the show whilst smashed off his face, he said his top priority is music:

All I want to do is music. That’s the main thing. Music, music, music. Whether I’m good enough to pursue that or not? I don’t really give a shit. I’m going to try it no matter what. I’ve got the platform to give it a go so if it fails miserably then so what, I don’t really give a shit. I’m going to do it. Music is what I want to do.

When asked if Celebrity Big Brother was a turning point for him, he said that wasn’t his intention when he went in.

I didn’t want it to be a turning point. I just thought if people want to jump on a couple of headlines after The Sun write this or The Mirror write that, then I don’t even want them to like me. My parents were like ‘go in there, show every one how nice you are’. I just said ‘no, don’t fucking talk to me’.

On the famous Pantsgate fight night, he said:

That was literally just because I couldn’t handle that there were two people screaming at Denise. It does creep up on you every now and then that you’re on TV. I can’t handle when someone’s stuck in a corner and people are on them. It just crept up on me and I thought she’s getting done in and she’s all by herself, and I love Denise. The fact that she was standing there and I could see where she was coming from, I just thought this isn’t right. I can’t even remember what I said. I think I just said ‘be quiet’. The thing that pissed me off most is when they were saying ‘go and have another drink Denise’. They were just trying to bring up anything whatever the press has wrote about them before. I didn’t like that.

Do you think Frankie can have a successful music career?

I liked him on CBB, but… no.

CBB: Frankie Cocozza becomes bookies’ favourite after Fight Night

Who’d have thought it?! In the aftermath of last night’s explosive Fight Night episode of Celebrity Big Brother, Frankie Cocozza has been made the favourite to win.

Frankie did emerge as the unlikely hero of the buttock-clenching instalment, which was one of the best in the show’s twelve-year history (read my de-brief here).

Punters seem to agree to the extent where the ejected X Factor star has replaced Gareth Thomas as the new frontrunner.

Denise Welch’s odds have also been cut, whilst Nicola McLean goes from outsider to OUTSIDER and the Shannon twins become serious contenders to be evicted tomorrow.

The latest odds, in full, according to Boylesports are:

  • Frankie Cocozza 1/1
  • Gareth Thomas 6/4
  • Denise Welch 7/1
  • Michael Madsen 8/1
  • Romeo 12/1
  • Karissa and Kristina Shannon 20/1
  • Nicola McLean 100/1

Remember TWO housemates will be evicted tomorrow (Wednesday January 25).

There’s something about Frankie: Why is Britain’s worst bad boy so appealing?

Having first appeared back in September, Frankie Cocozza has become the 19-year-old that everyone loves to hate.

Booted off The X Factor for breaking one of the show’s “golden rules” (he supposedly boasted about taking cocaine), he’s now back on our screens every night in Celebrity Big Brother. He looks like he doesn’t wash, he’s derogatory in both the way he speaks about and treats women and he has little discernible talent. So why do women flock to him? More importantly, why did Frankie’s Diary Room confession; “I ain’t gonna lie, I love a shag” make ME (dare I say it…) fancy him a little bit?!

Let us start with a cheeky reminder that supermodel Kate Moss once went out with dirty druggie Pete Doherty. Maybe girls just like a badboy. But Cocozza could hardly beat someone in a fight. He wears skinny jeans. He teams his skinny jeans with a vest. We’ve all seen those spindly legs. Then again, if you define badboy as treating women like shit, getting wasted on drink and drugs and being an arrogant tool, Frankie’s got it sorted.

As well as this, the old adage of “treat them mean, keep them keen” is in full force with our Frankie. (I say old adage, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t Shakespeare who came up with this particular cliché, but you know what I mean). The girls who lust after him are never going to get more than a one night stand out of him. If you give Frankie Cocozza your phone number then, I’m sorry love, but he won’t be texting you back. I’ve watched enough Jeremy Kyle to know that some of these girls think they could be the one to change him. They’ll be the one who he’ll fall in love with and commit to.

Perhaps it’s that some people out there are attracted by the concept of pulling a Z-lister. It’s definitely something for the CV, right? There are too many girls for them to all be searching for a cheap dollar from a kiss-and-tell newspaper spread. Even the papers are bored of it now. Going to The Sun saying you’ve spent a debauched night with Frankie Cocozza isn’t going to earn you more than 50p, tops.

There’s no way people think he’s actually got talent, is there? His first audition was alright and there were brief moments when he wasn’t totally terrible on the live shows, but I refuse to believe that there are girls out there who want to get with him because they think he’s genuinely talented. You want talent ladies? Say hey to little sexy ginger kid Ed Sheeran. You want a talented badboy? Go to Hackney and find Plan B. Sadly for the female population, both Ed and B have standards, and won’t pull everything in a skirt on a night out.

So while I find everything he does and says totally cringeworthy, I think little Frankie is hilarious. I don’t like a bad boy, I don’t like being treated badly and I don’t want him to commit to me. I think I just find him fascinating. I don’t understand what women see in him, so I assume he must be a great kisser or something. I mean, he’s probably had enough practice…

Watch: Frankie Cocozza gives exit interview to Xtra Factor’s Caroline Flack

I bloody love Caroline Flack on The Xtra Factor (why we wasted a year with Konnie fucking Huq is anyone’s guess), but it’s obvious from the editing of her Frankie Cocozza exit interview that producers wanted to keep some kind of leash on things.

The chat is all very standard and actually relatively uninteresting, but for those wanting to see some major self pity faces, enjoy:

X Factor: Best bits from the judges’ and wildcards’ press conference

The X Factor judges gathered today for a press conference with their wildcards Amelia Lily, James Michael, JonJo Kerr and 2 Shoes.

Here are some of the best quotes from the session:

Gary Barlow discusses the move: “It’s been a very interesting week. It’s been sad, it’s been negative, but hopefully we’ll come out of it with some positivity at least. That positivity is these four people having another chance and opportunity to come back this week… They made our decision incredibly difficult on the first live show and importantly they are all qualified to be here and have a place on the show on Saturday night. We’re really, really excited about it.”

Kelly Rowland on the wildcards skipping all the hard work the remaining 6 have put in: “Being in the music industry is full of different challenges all the time. This is one thing that’s happened and now it’s just important for everyone to bring their A-game. Everyone needs to put their best foot forward and come out singing. Turn up the energy of the competition. It just brings everyone up a notch.”

Gary on Frankie: “In our own ways, especially sat here with the press, we’ve all encouraged Frankie to not only be good, but to be bad as well. We’ve enjoyed it, written about it and etc etc… I do feel a responsibility and I do feel sorry. I’m sad for him.”

Gary on Frankie’s reception: “One of the worse things, and I’ll always remember this about Frankie, he was constantly told he shouldn’t be on the show. He was told he wasn’t good enough constantly. Whether the messages were online, on Twitter or in the papers, they all said ‘you’re not good enough’. Then on Saturday night the audience booed him. I can see where his mind has gone in the last seven days and I don’t feel good about it at all. Anyone who has contributed to that shouldn’t feel good about it either.”

Tulisa on 2 Shoes: “Bring back 2 Shoes! I didn’t want to get rid of the girls in the first place. I really think they could bring something different and fun to the show and I think we really need that now considering the mood. They could definitely come back and spice things up.”

Gary on James Michael: “He’s very serious and a real artist. We always talk about selling CDs, making CDs, this guy has a real recording voice. I know he’s got a real unique quality.”

Louis effectively saying he doesn’t give a shit about JonJo: “I think you should judge them all on Saturday. We saw something in all of them at Judges’ Houses. It’s down to the public.”

Kelly on Amelia: “It’s plain to see why you should vote for her. Great voice, great personality, great understanding of being a team player when it comes to being an artist. She’s a strong, strong contender.”

Amelia on the possibility of getting let down a second time: “It was devastating the first time, but I know what to expect now. I’m not going to get my hopes up, but whatever happens, happens. If I’m meant to get through, I’m meant to get through. I’m just grateful to have this opportunity.”

Watch: Kelly Rowland finds out on camera that Frankie Cocozza is out of X Factor

Awkward! Imagine you’re Kelly Rowland, just doing your casual promo interviews, unaware of what’s been going on in the media all day, and suddenly a journalist asks you what you make of Frankie Cocozza leaving The X Factor.

“Wut?!”

UPDATED: X Factor’s Frankie Cocozza removed from the competition

In a rare piece of X Factor-related scandal, Frankie Cocozza is no longer in the competition.

A statement reads:

“I’d like to apologise to Gary, my fellow contestants and everyone who has voted for me, but, as of today (Tuesday, November 8), I will no longer be in The X Factor. My life during the show has gone out of control and my behaviour off stage has over-stepped the rules of the competition. I no longer deserve my place in the show, so I am therefore leaving. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me.”

Reportedly he broke a “golden rule” that left bosses no choice but to chuck him out. He is also currently the centre of not one but TWO Ofcom investigations – one for swearing on air, and another for glamorising the use of alcohol.

The move means that only two contestants will be left for the final, unless someone is brought back. Bet producers are regretting the double elimination thing now, eh?

Producers will announce how the format will change tomorrow.

Frankie Cocozza: A few words.

Fans are crying “FIX FACTOR” on Twitter after The Risk and Johnny Robinson got sent packing over Frankie Cocozza on The X Factor tonight, but if people aren’t going to vote then what do they expect?!

I’m going to recycle the same arguement now that I used for Jedward in 2009.

Firstly, yes, Frankie isn’t up to scratch. Vocally he is the weakest contestant by a country mile and should by rights have left way before now. But why was he even put through to the live shows in the first place? He wasn’t one of the strongest vocalists at Judges’ Houses, and whilst I understand Barlow’s reasoning behind putting him through, it was, in hindsight, the wrong decision.

He’s still, essentially, just a kid. He’s what, 18/19? And look at how much backlash he has. Look at how many haters have it in for him. Look at all the disgracefully spiteful comments swirling round on Twitter that go way beyond passing judgement on a performance on an entertainment show.

All the hatred that goes below the belt is getting far too out of proportion. All this wild child stuff is bullshit. He’s a teenager, he’s of legal age, he goes out, he gets drunk, he gets with girls. SHOCKER. So do hundreds of thousands of other Brits, and he shouldn’t be made out to be a massive cunt because of it. Is it affecting his performance? Well, he didn’t go out at all last week and his performance was shitter than ever, so if anything the partying is actually having a good effect.

Again: I’m not sticking up for Frankie as an artist, because he is weak and should have been eliminated by now.

But what people – including the judges – seem to be forgetting about X Factor is that it is just a Saturday night TV show. Yes, there’s a big prize waiting at the end of it, but in taking itself too seriously and encouraging the tabloids to make young contestants into public hate figures, it’s going too far.

And anyway, what exactly do you expect Frankie to do? Just walk away from his dream? Bollocks. It was him that decided to go to the first audition, yes, but since then it’s been the judges and the public that have kept him in. On the basis that to quit is to be disrespectful to the people who spent money voting for him, the issue should be with the voters and with the judges. Give the poor guy a break.

In short: CHILL OUT!

The X Factor Rankings: Live Show 4 – Halloween Week

Alexandra in Kelly’s chair and a Nu Vibe boy back in the frame, last night’s X Factor may have had its fair share of scandal but it was a helluva lot more pleasurable to watch than last weekend’s needless fight-fest. It really felt more about the performers than the judges (for once) an there were some standouts…

1 (10) Little Mix
Week 4 saw the girls elevate themselves from also-rans to serious contenders. If they can maintain the standard of ‘E.T.’ and continue to endear themselves in their VT clips, they could not only be in this for the long haul, but in with a very good chance of success once the show finishes.

2 (2) Johnny Robinson
At last Johnny was allowed to just sing, and yes his tone is still far too much like a chipmunk to truly win over the masses (and no he’s unlikely to shift Leona amounts of records) but with one of the most likeable personalities EVER on The X Factor and a performance as good as the one he gave last night, he could be a safe bet to make it to the final few weeks.

3 (3) Misha B
Misha’s VT was a bit too contrived (pensive shots of her sitting on a bench, walking through a field etc) but, as ever, the performance spoke for itself. Just when it seemed like it was getting a little pedestrian, the arrangement mixed it up a bit and she hit her usual standard of amazingness. I’m not a huge fan of her as a personality, but as a performer there’s just no denying the talent.

4 (1) Kitty Brucknell
I put Kitty on top of the pile last week and she ended up in the bottom two – showing that, though people may not necessarily dislike her as much as they did to begin with, that doesn’t mean they now like her. But they should – as a person she may be dividing opinion more than Katie Waissell (yes it is a tired comparison, apols) but her performance last night was, again, brilliant.

5 (6) Marcus Collins
Marcus continues to grow week-on-week and his performance this week elevated him again. He’s still not up there with the best of them, but he shouldn’t have anything to worry about for a good few weeks yet. And he actually looks like he’s having the time of his life, which is always a bonus.

6 (8) Craig Colton
Craig was on top form last night with some fantastic production courtesy of the cool drummers. Will he sell bucketloads of records in the industry? Doubtful. Maybe, but doubtful. Still, his vocal was on top form last night, and after worrying about him becoming a bit bland last Saturday I was pleased to see him arrive back on the radar. Terrible choice of coat, though.

7 (7) Janet Devlin
Janet’s losing her sparkle, for me. I’ve heard from people that have met her that she’s a lot bulshier than how she appears, and whilst that shouldn’t taint our perspective of her singing, it does definitely put a question-mark over her sweetheart style. She’s good, and I have no doubt that she is a lovely girl (even she does have more balls than we might think), but in terms of performance I’m not convinced she “put it down” last night, including with the tuning.

8 (4) Sophie Habibis
Sophie is in trouble this week. A terrible song choice and an off-the-mark vocal may put her in jeopardy, and whereas people like Johnny, Misha and Janet can afford to have an off-week and still be spared by public vote, Sophie NEEDS to smash it every Saturday if she’s going to be in this for the long haul. I make no secret of the fact she is my favourite, but I will be shocked if she isn’t in the sing-off tonight.

9 (5) The Risk
Wipe away the sheen of them being a group of guys who can hold a tune, and there really isn’t enough there with The Risk to justify all the hype around them. Harmonies were off last night, something the judges clearly didn’t pick up on, and they deserve to be in the Bottom 2 tonight. They won’t be, but I really feel they deserve to be.

10 (11) Frankie Cocozza
GO HOME FRANKIE!!!!!!!!

The X Factor live show 4: The bookies’ predictions

It’s already a hilariously dramatic week for X Factor – a member of The Risk has walked out, a member of Nu Vibe has come back, Kelly Rowland’s missing a week to recover from a throat infection, and Alexandra Burke is rocking up to keep her seat warm.

In terms of eliminations this weekend, Frankie Cocozza is favorite to go. He has even odds of 1/1 to get the boot, ahead of Little Mix and Kitty Brucknell who are both tied on 4/1.

Behind them, Sophie Habibis could cause an upset on 7/1, with Johnny Robinson and Marcus Collins on 12/1 and 14/1 respectively. Craig Colton looks fairly safe on 20/1, whilst the others are all more or less a sure thing to hang about an extra week – Misha B is 50/1, The Risk 66/1 and Janet Devlin 100/1.

Unsurprisingly therefore, Gary Barlow is the bookies’ tip to be the next one to lose an artist. He has odds of 4/6, with Louis on 4/1, and Kelly and Tulisa each on 11/2.

If you think you know whether or not it’ll go to deadlock, you can find odds of 8/15 that it will and 6/4 that it won’t. Speaking of the Bottom Two, Kitty is the favourite to land in the sing-off but NOT get eliminated. Her 9/4 odds are followed by Little Mix on 5/2 and Frankie on 9/2.

In terms of winning, Janet has broken free of The Risk again, and is back at the top on 2/1. The Risk follow on 11/4, with Misha B on 5/1. Frankie is the 100/1 outsider.

What do you think will go down this weekend?
