In ‘news’ that’s probably utter bollocks but fun to speculate about, it’s been reported that Britney Spears is in the running to replace Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger as a judge on The X Factor USA.

The star sees it as the perfect opportunity to prove she’s still the same girl she was in 1999, according to a report, since she’s been extensively micro-managed since her very public breakdown in 2007.

A so-called “pal” told The Sun: ”She’s a huge fan of The X Factor and thinks it’s the perfect time for her to be a judge. She wants to show her fans she is back to her best and where better to do that than on national TV every week?

”She knows all about the ups and downs of pop fame. And with her schedule relatively clear she has the time to dedicate to a different project.”

They added: ”Britney has had a tough few years but this would put her back at the very top. She would be great for the show and it could be great for her.

”In terms of excitement and intrigue Britney would top them all.”

Provided she doesn’t Do A Scherzinger and totally destroy any hope of a career boost, this could actually put her right back at the top. Assuming of course that there’s any truth to this, which there probably isn’t.

US viewers were left on the edge of their seats last night in one of the show’s most shocking cliff-hangers to date.

Quinn, played by Dianna Agron, was seen in a horrific car accident as a result of texting whilst driving. Her vehicle was dramatically smashed by an oncoming truck. Think Without A Trace/Cold Feet/The O.C. and you’re not far off. Actually wasn’t that how Hilary Duff’s brother was snuffed it at the start of Raise Your Voice as well? Don’t text and drive, kids!

So, has she been killed off? Does Quinn die? Has Agron quit the show?

The short answer is… dunno.

E! Online confirms that Agron will be back as Quinn “in some capacity” after the current seven-week hiatus, but bosses have refused to clarify whether it will be in a dream sequence, a reduced role, a flashback/forward, or alive and well.

The Wanted’s hit ‘Glad You Came’ was also performed in last night’s installment, which will air in the UK in the Spring.

SOUND THE AMAZING ALARM! Kelly Clarkson has performed Demi Lovato’s hit ‘Skyscraper’ acoustically on the latest leg of her US tour.

The definitive American Idol has been performing one cover at every gig, with the tune of choice being decided by her fans.

Lovato has often cited Clarkson as an idol, and the pair performed a duet at the Z100 Jingle Ball last year. The ‘Stronger’ hitmaker has also stated that she would love to record an official duet with the former ‘Camp Rock’ actress.

‘Skyscraper’ is released in the UK on Sunday (February 27) ahead of its parent album Unbroken on March 5.

James Corden is distraught about cutting off Adele at the Brit Awards, bless him.

The poor guy was forced to kick off the MasterCard British Album award winner after a few seconds so Blur could close the show with the 11-minute set they’d been promised.

Speaking on ITV2 to Keith Lemon and Laura Whitmore, he said: “I don’t know why I was made to do that… she is the biggest star in the world.

“Blur got 11 minutes and Adele got 11 seconds, I don’t understand it.”

He then continued to bemoan the situation whilst a flustered Whitmore, presumably she herself having someone yelling in her ear to wrap it up, tried to change the subject.

Twitter is still in meltdown over the debacle…

…but seriously.

Adele’s 21 went FOURTEEN-times Platinum in 2011 and was the biggest-selling record in the world. She flew the British flag and is the country’s most successful exports in recent memory. And she couldn’t be given a few minutes of an acceptance speech? She was certainly given that at the Grammys. She was given that six times.

The night after one of the US’ biggest EVER stars died, they gave our big lady her night in the sun. And now they will see – now the world will see – how we just edged her out the way for Blur to play an ELEVEN minute set.

Yep, the rumours were true – Brown had been linked for some time to a guest stint on the full-length version of the song, and now it’s finally been unveiled.

What’s more, Rihanna also now features on Brown’s new song ‘Turn Up The Music’. Listen to that bad boy here:

I have a giant soft spot for Parade. My chat with them last year for Entertainmentwise is easily in the Top 3 interviews I have ever done, and yet their fierce dedication to their craft, their insanely loyal fanbase and their genuine down-to-Earth attitude hasn’t proven a winning formula in making the big breakthrough they deserve.

After releasing a moderately decent (if doomed to fail) LP at the back end of 2011, the quintet have landed a support slot on The Wanted’s arena tour and will be showcasing a new track, called ‘Throw It Up In The Air’, while they’re at it.

The ladies have uploaded a video clip of them rehearsing to a demo of the song, which you can check out below. It’s the reason why #throwitupintheair became a Twitter trending topic this evening.

The Warblers give The Wanted’s breakthrough international hit ‘Glad You Came’ a makeover in the new episode of Glee, due to air across the pond tomorrow (February 21) on Fox.

‘Glad You Came’ has been scaling the Billboard Hot 100 over the past few weeks, making The Wanted the first pop group in what feels like ages to make a successful chart transition.

The backing riff quite suits the Glee do-do-oh-oh (?!) style of covers, don’t ya think?

Matilda, Shrek: The Musical and One Man, Two Govnors were among the triumphant theatre productions at last night’s Whatsonstage.com Theatre Awards.

Matilda scooped a number of accolades including Best New Musical, whilst Shrek and One Man, Two Govnors each netted two acting awards, including recognition for Amanda Holden and James Corden.

Vanessa Redgrave took home the Best Actress honour, whilst ex-Corrie star Richard Fleeshman was named Best Actor In A Musical.

Catherine Tate was honoured twice – once with David Tennant – and Kerry Ellis, who was reportedly snubbed by The Voice, also went home with an award.

Best Dressed surely had to go to Kimberley Walsh, who took over from Holden last October, and who looked a bajillion dollars on the red carpet.

As her big comeback single dives out of the Top 40 after only one week, Madonna is moving swiftly on to the next release from her forthcoming album MDNA.

The veteran pop icon released ‘Give Me All Your Luvin” earlier this month, and the track limped to a disappointing No. 37 in the UK singles charts last weekend after sales achieved through a special MDNA pre-order bundle were removed from the tally.

The song now stands at No. 51 after having sold a disappointing 7,070 copies in its second week, according to Music Week.

The star’s manager Guy Oseary has revealed on Twitter that the next single, called ‘Girls Gone Wild’ is already in the process of having a music video shot.

“@PowerOfMadonna shooting “Girls Gone Wild” video this coming week…” he wrote, adding: “The directors for “Girls Gone Wild” video are Mert and Marcus… They also photographed MDNA album… ”

‘Give Me All Your Luvin” has had more success in the US, where it has so far peaked at No. 10.

The song attracted controversy during the Super Bowl Half Time show when guest rapper MIA flipped her middle finger up at cameras during her verse.
