Leona Lewis performs new song ‘Come Alive’; suggests that third album does actually exist

In November Leona Lewis’ long-delayed third album Glassheart will be released a full year after originally intended (assuming it doesn’t get pushed back again) and new music has FINALLY emerged during her set at Radio 1′s Hackney Weekend.

Rather than a Leonaballad like ‘Bleeding Love’ or a dance track like ‘Collide’, ‘Come Alive’ is somewhere in the middle. It’s a bit of a dub ballad with the odd squelchy bit and soaring vocal, and though it doesn’t sound particularly amazing in live form it sounds like it could be a keeper on record. Probably not a single, though.

Her set also included ‘Coming Home’ (featuring the country’s new favourite rent-a-rapper Wretch 32), ‘Better In Time’, ‘Bleeding Love’ and ‘Collide’.

Here’s ‘Bleeding Love’ if you fancy it.

Pixie Lott debuts Young Foolish Happy megamix-medley-mash-up-thing

The three singles from Pixie Lott’s ill-fated Young Foolish Happy LP have been given a mish-mash for the new Clubland 21 compilation, out on Monday (June 21).

‘All About Tonight’ (amazing), ‘Kiss The Stars’ (average) and ‘What Do You Take Me For?’ (somewhere in the middle) come together quite nicely – of course it’s nowhere near as good as a Turn It Up album medley would have been, but this is the way Pixie’s career is going “sound-wise” and we’ll all just have to deal with it *wipes running mascara from face, forces a smile*

She’s off to New York soon apparently to work on “the guys who produced the original Motown records” (think most of them are dead or retired, Pix) for her third album, so her earlier promise of “lots more singles” from YFH looks like it may have hit a snag in the form of record label bosses wanting to move swiftly on ASAP.

Anyhoo watch the megamix below.

2 Shoes’ debut single: Amazing on so many levels

Tulisa’s ‘Young’, Jessica Wright’s ‘Dance All Night’, now 2 Shoes’ ‘Turn Me On (Turn Me Out)’… record label All Around The World have made their Summer 2012 mission statement very clear.

Shamelessly unoriginal but effortlessly danceable Ibiza-ready anthems are the name of the game, and if you throw in approximately seven tablespoons of gay then you’ve pretty much got the 2 Shoes effort down to a T.

‘Turn Me On (Turn Me Out)’ will make anyone who’s ever been within touching distance of NME, Q or Kerrang! spontaneously vomit, but if you just judge it for what it is then it’s harmless good fun. Can they be 2012′s answer to Booty Luv? I THINK SO. It builds nicely, the vocals sound good, and though it’s about as likely to top the year-end Best Of 2012 lists as a Johnny Robinson is to be voted President of the United States of America, it’s a perfect summer tune.

Video is a bit cringe though.

Friday midweeks: Justin Bieber clinging on to album chart lead over Cheryl Cole

Justin Bieber’s Believe was only 3,000 units ahead of Cheryl Cole’s A Million Lights on Wednesday’s midweek chart update, and his lead is still there today.

However, Music Week warns that Chezza is still very much “a contender” to snatch the lead away from him before close of play tomorrow night.

Over on the singles charts, Maroon 5 have already shifted 109,000 copies of ‘Payphone’, easily ahead of Cole’s ‘Call My Name’ this week, but unlikely to top her 152,000 year-to-date record from last week.

In other chart news, Stooshe are still looking good for No4 on the singles with ‘Black Heart’, while Paloma Faith is set to rebound 5-3 with Fall To Grace on the album chart. Defending No1 Sing from Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band is down to No6.

Alexandra Burke upset by dire performance of second album

Alexandra Burke had always been one of The X Factor‘s most successful winners, despite the fact that runners-up JLS frequently outsell her. But this second album campaign has been an absolute disaster, and a gossip mag quotes a tenuous “source” as saying she’s more than a little down about it.

Heartbreak On Hold debuted at No18 on sales of 6,000 copies – an astonishing 95% lower than the first-week sales of her 2009 album Overcome, which has since gone on to shift 800,000 units in all.

To top it all off, trailer single ‘Let It Go’ entered at No33 before swan-diving to No74. It had barely any radio play at all.

Speaking to Reveal, an “insider” said: “All of a sudden, her career is going downhill. She’s working as hard as ever but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. She’s really struggling to come to terms with it.

“Everything that could have gone wrong, did. In her her darker moments, she admits it’s been a ‘sh***y 12 months’.  She almost wishes she hadn’t won the X Factor, because so many of her problems seem to stem from that.”

Of course the unfortunate fact of the matter here is that Heartbreak On Hold is actually pretty good.

TOWIE Jessica Wright’s alarmingly addictive ‘Dance All Night’ in full

Jessica Wright – she of The Only Way Is Essex fame – has launched her pop career with her first single and video.

Released under All Around The World – the same label who ‘own’ Tulisa – ‘Dance All Night’ hardly breaks new ground, musically or lyrically, but is a pleasant surprise in terms of how well-suited it is to the summer pop-club scene.

The video is a little cheap, mainly because there are SO MANY different locations (and the dance scenes are terrible), but it does the job well enough.

It’ll be fascinating to see how well this does – those who were never going to like a song by a reality TV star will bemoan its generic sound, whilst others could fall in love with it. Airplay might be a bit hard to come by, but if you ask me it’ll be great if it did well enough for us to see what else Jess has in store.

Swedish maker of awesomeness Andreas Moe debuts ‘Collecting Sunlight’

Beautiful hitmaker Andreas Moe has produced a beautiful tune – it’s called ‘Collecting Sunlight’ and comes with a brilliant animated music video.

The song is the title track from Andreas’ upcoming self-released EP, which is released on June 25, and incidentally has the approval of Made In Chelsea‘s Caggie Dunlop and rising pop-rockers Lawson. Accurately described as a mixture between The Script, Robyn and Prince, the general theme is apparently “electronic but organic”. Deep.

It’s a gorgeous song and the simple animation on the video is really effective too. Take a look below.

Cher Lloyd makes first entry in US Billboard Hot 100

The song that Cher Lloyd should have released first in the UK has cracked the Billboard Hot 100.

‘Want U Back’, which peaked at No. 25 over here earlier this year, has become her first transatlantic smash, reaching the giddy heights of No. 75 on this week’s pile.

OK, it doesn’t sound that amazing, but the song has been bubbling under for a fair ol’ while, and it’s good that’s finally managed to break into the actual charts. Its download sales shot up week-on-week to 20,000, bringing its total to nearly 100,000 – not too bad at all.

Cher is now the third act from The X Factor’s 2010 final to penetrate the US charts – ironically the fourth and final act to do so will be the actual winner, Matt Cardle. One Direction have already topped the album charts with Up All Night and flogged a ridiculous amount of copies of ‘What Makes You Beautiful’; also Rebecca Ferguson debuted at No23 with her album Heaven just a couple of weeks ago.

CLAPS FOR CHER, EVERYBODY.

NOT A DRILL: 2 Shoes confirm debut single release

2 Shoes – The REAL WINNERS of X Factor 2011 – have confirmed plans for their debut single.

‘Real winners’, that is, in that they were kicked out in the first live show and then came bottom in the “who’s replacing Frankie” vote.

2012′s answer to Booty Luv will release their version of Kathy Brown’s ‘Turn Me On (Turn Me Out)’ on August 13 through All Around The World, a sub-bit of Universal Records (!!) on August 13.

The totes amaze duo were knocked out of the talent contest criminally early by Tulisa last year, after she gave them a cringe-worthy production of Girls Aloud’s ‘Something Kinda Oooh’ in the first live show.

I am slightly in love with them. ROLL!

Video: Cheryl Cole performs at G-A-Y, appears to be singing live

Ah, the sound of breath. The swear words put into ‘Screw You’. It would seem that Cheryl Cole not only danced her heart out but provided the there-and-then live vocal too.

Fastest-Selling Single Of 2012 owner Chezza performed the Wretch 32 collab, as well as No1 ‘Call My Name’, ‘Fight For This Love’ and ‘Under The Sun’.

She downed a celebratory shot on stage to mark her third chart-topper, confirmed today, and unleashed a heap of balloons during ‘Call My Name’.

A Million Lights is out tomorrow (18th) and is amazing – review here.
