Taylor Swift beats Lea Michele and Scarlett Johansson to Les Miserables film role

Popstar Taylor Swift‘s audition for the forthcoming Les Miserables film adaptation reportedly impressed director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) so much that he’s offered her the role of Eponine over fellow auditionees Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood.

Ace Showbiz reports that the casting sessions in November were unexpectedly won hands-down by the ‘Love Story’ singer.

In other casting news, Amanda Seyfried has been offered the role of Cosette, meaning Anne Hathaway’s (Fantine) on-screen daughter will only be three years her junior.

The Mean Girls star’s background in opera is thought to have gone in her favour, as well as her major role in Mamma Mia!, one of the most successful stage-to-screen transfers of all time.

In addition to Hathaway, Hooper has already enlisted Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Eddie Redmayne and Sacha Baron Cohen for the star-studded movie, which is slated for a US release on December 7.
