The Pussycat Doll, who started out as such a promising judge, has proven unpopular with viewers, critics, and – crucially – with Simon Cowell.
Marcus Canty was unsurprisingly stuck in the Bottom 2 for the third consecutive time, landing against Rachel Crow. The plucky teen no doubt ended up the victim of Chris Rene’s unexpected showstealing performance the night before.
LA Reid and Simon Cowell backed their own acts, and Paula opted to eliminate Marcus.
When it came to Nicole, she refused to vote. An unconvincing onslaught of tears about how she loved both acts, and a plea from Rachel to “please stop crying”, resulted in her sending the vote to Deadlock. Steve announced that Rachel would be leaving.
In a catastrophic meltdown that looked a little too sudden, Rachel collapsed to the floor, Nicole jumped to her feet in a moment of “NOOOOOO!”, and poor Steve really had his work cut out. Following her Best Bits, she emotionally promised we haven’t seen the end of her, and when Steve went to interview Nicole, the crowd drowned him out with the almighty sound of booing and Nicole refused to speak.
