Official! Simon Cowell is returning to Britain’s Got Talent in 2012.
Amid calls for him to return to The X Factor next year, the media mogul has been confirmed by ITV bosses to have signed, sealed and delivered a deal to return to his other big talent show in the New Year.
Michael McIntyre and David Hasslehoff have both quit after just one season on the panel, but the ever-present Amanda Holden is staying on. It’s thought David Walliams and Dannii Minogue will be signed up to complete the panel, but there’s no official word yet. Samantha Womack, of EastEnders Ronnie fame, has also been linked.
In terms of X Factor, it’s been rumoured this week that NONE of the current panel will be returning next year, and with the US version also in need of a few tweaks (and already confirmed to be returning for a second season next Autumn) it seems unlikely Simon will be back on that particular juggernaut for its ninth series.
I’m not personally a fan of BGT, but both shows this year have proven that there ain’t no panellist with the same quick wit, dry humour and inexplicable warmth as The Cowell.
