So The Only Way Is Essex and Made In Chelsea have both returned to our screens after a summer hiatus, and following the former’s new season premiere on ITV2 last night we can compare how they fared with viewers.
Made In Chelsea‘s return last week attracted 378,000 viewers on E4, a slight dip on the average number who watched the first series (roughly 500,000 per episode).
Did The Only Way Is Essex top that? Effortlessly. The show pulled in 1.6 million viewers, over four times the amount who watched MIC, and an impressive 500k more than the second series finale in May. It’s also up on the amount who caught the season two opener (1.5m).
Made In Chelsea continues tonight, and following a lack of substantial publicity I wouldn’t be surprised if figures continue to drop.
