Well, the mammoth Alexandra vs McFly vs The Script vs Alesha chart showdown we got excited about the other day hasn’t quite exploded as the four-horse race to the death we hoped it would be.
Alexandra is, as predicted, currently on course to hit No1 with ‘Start Without You’. The other slice of bread to the Katy-Perry-at-No2 sandwich (?) is McFly’s ‘Party Girl’; which, as predicted, sits at No3 in today’s midweeks. Only No8 on iTunes, the track’s Top 3 placing is probably due to their fanbase’s fondness for the CD single format, plus a high level of iTunes downloads for the Remix EP.
We predicted No5 for The Script – at present they sit at No6, but as they are now at No3 on iTunes you can expect them to rise a couple of places by the final chart at the end of the week. As for poor Alesha Dixon? She’s stranded just outside the Top 10 with ‘Drummer Boy’. Her No15 placing on iTunes could suggest her final position come Sunday could be even lower.
Other notable entries will come from the ‘Must Be The Music’ semi-finalists du jour – the amazing Emma’s Imagination currently sits at No7 with The Pictures inside the Top 20 as well. Hurrah!
