When Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper were cast as the leads in the adaptation of one of my favourite novels, The Silver Linings Playbook, I wasn’t exactly excited.
Cooper seemed like an odd choice for the mentally unwell lead given that his track record largely steers clear of such projects, and Lawrence was an anticlimactic choice given that very few of us knew who the hell she even was this time last year.
Alas, the concerns were needless. By the trailer, it looks great. Lawrence is now a fully-fledged embodiment of amazingness and Cooper looks set to surpass expectation.
And oh look, there’s Robert De Niro and Julia Stiles chucked in for good measure.
The big-screen adap of Matthew Quick’s book is out on November 23 in the UK.
